This is the protocol for a lockdown:
-
All classrooms will be notified (via European siren and PA system) that there is a danger on campus and that they are to remain in their classroom.
-
The teacher’s lock the doors and prepare the classroom and student’s appropriately.
-
Law enforcement will be on campus to bring an end to the danger and ensure the safety of the students.
-
Law Enforcement will also block off public access to the school. Any stranger (or parent) on campus without permission will be viewed as part of the ongoing threat by law enforcement and met with appropriate force.
-
It is very important for parent’s to stay away from the school so that emergency personnel do not experience traffic or blocked roads in trying to deliver emergency services to our students.
-
If a Parent feels a compelling need to be as close as possible to the situation we encourage them to congregate at the CSD across the street.
-
-
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and Oak Ridge High School have common understandings developed for this type of emergency. Protocols have been developed to ensure that the Deputies are communicating with school personnel so that the student’s needs are met.
-
When the crisis has passed Law Enforcement will evacuate each classroom one at a time.
-
Law Enforcement will then decide if the students need to be evacuated off campus (CSD) or if they can go to their on campus evacuation zones (football field, baseball fields, etc.)
