Mr. Wehr reported that the new synthetic track would be finished by 9/30/09. A dedication ceremony was planned for 9/26.
- The council reviewed the Leadership Committee minutes:
Mr. Wehr commented about District Budget woes. This year the district lost approximately $1,000 per student. Previously the budget allotted $6,800/student. Currently, the district is funded at a ratio of $5,800/student.
The district maintains a 13% reserve to fund this school year (2009/2010) and next (2010 – 2011).
Mr. Wehr reported on strategies to maintain solvency:
- Cut the site allocation by 20 %.
- Leadership council voted to keep reserve fund intact.
Mr. Wehr reminded the council that we are involved in the WASC accreditation process this year. He reviewed Chapter One of the WASC document. The WASC committee will visit Oak Ridge on April 12, 2010.
Mr. Wehr reported that one of our goals is for ALL students to reach a level of mastery. The faculty and staff are addressing the following questions:
- What kinds of interventions should we implement for students who are not at a level of mastery?
- What kinds of credit recovery programs should we implement for students who are behind in credits toward graduation?
Mr. Wehr stated that the school’s goal is to finish work on the WASC document by December.
- California State Testing Analysis
Mr. Wehr reviewed the 9th grade testing results. He anticipated that the API score for 2008/2009 would remain at 868 or show slight growth.
- Professional Learning Community
The PLC is working on the question: With the prospect of summer school closure, what programs can we implement to help students recover credit on the Oak Ridge campus?
Mr. Swedelson announced that Kem May and Becky Potter of the Math Department will address the Site Council regarding strategies to help students who fail Algebra I at the Site Council Meeting Scheduled for 10/7/09.
